Empowering future church leaders through rigorous theological education
The Accrediting Commission for Theological Higher Education (ACTHE) is a faith-based accrediting organization serving Bible colleges, seminaries, ministry institutes, Christian universities, and leadership training programs.
ACTHE promotes academic excellence, biblical integrity, and institutional accountability while respecting the mission, doctrine, and independence of each member institution. Our accreditation process provides an independent review of educational quality, helping schools demonstrate their commitment to effective theological training and ministry preparation.
Through collaboration and mutual recognition among member institutions, ACTHE supports pathways for continued learning and strengthens confidence in theological education.
We are committed to advancing Christ-centered education, supporting Christian institutions, and equipping leaders for Kingdom service worldwide.

School may be either classroom or distance education based (or combination). Schools may be (but are not required to be) corporate structured or state licensed for Theological training.

Schools must show a clearly defined and workable organizational structure that facilitates the complete execution and completion of the goals and philosophy proposed by institute.

The school will show proof of financial structure that facilitates the operation of the school. This will include the allowance for instructor and administration wages and overhead institute base expenses.
The Accrediting Commission for Theological Higher Education (ACTHE) exists to provide voluntary faith-based accreditation services to Bible colleges, theological seminaries, ministry training institutes, Christian leadership schools, and other institutions dedicated to theological education.
ACTHE was established to serve institutions that offer quality theological training through residential, online, hybrid, distance-learning, and external study programs. We recognize that many outstanding Christian educational organizations operate with unique missions, specialized curricula, and ministry-focused objectives that may not align with the requirements of traditional academic accrediting systems.
Our mission is to promote excellence, accountability, integrity, and continuous improvement within theological education. Through a comprehensive review process, ACTHE evaluates institutional practices, academic standards, faculty qualifications, student services, governance, and ministry effectiveness while respecting the unique calling and doctrinal distinctives of each institution.
Accreditation through ACTHE is voluntary and demonstrates an institution's commitment to quality education, ethical operations, sound leadership, and responsible stewardship. Accreditation provides students, churches, ministries, and communities with confidence that an institution has undergone independent evaluation and meets established standards for theological education.
ACTHE recognizes that theological education serves a distinct purpose within the Christian faith community. We support institutions whose primary focus is the preparation of ministers, pastors, missionaries, chaplains, Christian counselors, educators, and other Kingdom leaders dedicated to advancing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
As an independent faith-based accrediting organization, ACTHE operates according to biblical principles and standards specifically designed for theological education. Our evaluations focus on the effectiveness, integrity, and mission fulfillment of theological institutions while honoring the historic principle of religious freedom and the independence of faith-based education.
ACTHE affirms that quality theological education may be delivered through a variety of instructional methods and educational models. We acknowledge the important role that smaller colleges, seminaries, ministry institutes, and specialized schools play in equipping Christian leaders throughout the world.
Through our accreditation process, ACTHE seeks to strengthen institutions, encourage excellence, promote accountability, and advance Kingdom impact by recognizing schools that demonstrate a commitment to biblical truth, educational quality, and effective ministry preparation.
ACTHE Motto:
Accrediting Excellence. Advancing Kingdom Impact.
